Somewhere between Vancouver and Sydney

Just switched my Mac to Oz time zone so postings are in local Australian time.Somewhere between Vancouver and Sydney Toronto-Vancouver uneventful; plane packed to the gunwales but no delays. Reasonably pleasant dinner; beef filet and a couple of glasses of decent French merlot.

Dreadful movies! Tried “Blue Valentine” and it was just as well that there were no sharp objects handy; gave up on that before I needed anti-depressants. Tried “I Love You Philip Morris” but that was even worse; Jim Carrie. Need I say more? Who ever gave him the permission to stand in front of a camera! He is cloyingly, revoltingly, unpleasantly bad and every movie of his that I have seen seems worse than the one before. Hollywood, stop encouraging him! Gave up on movies after that. We flew into a low sunset with the red of the sun’s top quarter barely above the horizon. Clouds just above the horizon fired with colour and the rest of the sky opalescent grey. We were flying low over the mountains and they were starkly clear out the window, capped with white. It was a fabulous picture, not sure that I could have caught the atmosphere but academic as my camera was in the overhead buried in the bottom of my bag; see how planning pays off?

De-planed and a 90 minute layover in Vancouver. Left Vancouver at midnight Van time and ETA in Sydney is June 5 at 8:15 am, 15 1/2 hours ahead.

As soon as we were airborne another full-course dinner with better food, wine and service. Interesting how much better Business Class is when flying internationally as compared to domestic. While a large number of passengers joined us in Vancouver, many of them were, like me, on our second leg from Toronto. I was surprised to see how many of them signed on for another major meal! I passed, took two blues and was under the covers as soon as the seatbelt sign went out. Slept well for about 5 1/2 hours but that was it, so have been reading and catching up on the blog. Now about 4 1/2 hours out of Sydney and will call a halt to this.

Next stop Sydney.
